Let's Get This Party Started

Well, hello there!

I'm Robin.

If you've stumbled across my blog, we probably have a lot in common. You may love Disneyland as much as I do. You're most likely a frequent visitor. And, if you're anything like me, you're always looking for ways to make each trip special and unique.

My thirst for playing games at Disneyland started as small as that. While I'm sure you would agree that Disneyland never gets boring, there's always that part of me that wants to make every visit memorable in its own way. There came a point when I was visiting Disneyland 3 or 4 times per year (no small feat when you live in Arizona), and usually with the same people, so I started to experiment. We would branch out from the restaurants we frequented. We would start to challenge ourselves: How many rides could we ride in one weekend? Can we hit them all? (and no, we have yet to accomplish that). It became an obsession. I bought the Hidden Mickeys book, and just about any Disneyland book I could get my hands on.

In November of  2008, I was planning on taking a trip with my cousins and one of their friends when it hit me: games! Games, games, games! Of course, games! And, I must admit, I went a little crazy. I planned a photo scavenger hunt. I created line boredom busters. I wrote down rules and created team name tags. I bought prizes. We competed to see who could find the most hidden Mickeys in an hour. We tried to see how many rides we could get on in an hour (3, and it would've been 4 if Haunted Mansion hadn't broken down). My gosh, was that weekend insane. Insane, but a complete blast!

From this trip, I discovered that it was possible to take a place that you knew well and find new ways to experience it. Ever since, I keep trying to find even more ways to simply have a blast. However, google searches for Disneyland-themed games or scavenger hunts have been a complete bust! So, I've taken matters into my own hands.

I have several games that I have created. I have ideas for so many more. And, what good is it to have them discarded in my documents folder after we've used them when they could be shared. So, internet, I'm ready to share these games with you. The goal is simple: let's have some fun! I have games for people like me, that are also fun for the newbies, and I can't wait to see or hear how you use them on your trips.
I'm still in the very beginning stages of getting this blog up and running. There are so many things I have yet to do, but let's start with the basics:

-You can email me at robin.disneylandgames@gmail.com.
-You can follow me on twitter @disneylandgames or @robinpoppins
-Stay tuned to the blog for Disneyland-themed games galore! In fact, I will be posting my first one shortly.

It's so nice to meet everyone. Tell your friends!

-Robin
